When In... Leeds

Did you know that Leeds is the third largest city in the UK, after London and Birmingham? There is so much to see and do in Leeds, and with it being close to our home in North Yorkshire we wanted to share with you a few of our favourite places to visit.

Things To Do

RHS Garden Harlow Carr

RHS Garden Harlow Carr is one of Yorkshires most relaxing and innovative gardens situated in the gateway to the Yorkshire Dales. Take a stroll through the tranquil surroundings of the 58 acre garden and gather ideas for your own garden, or even take a picnic and simply relax in the sunshine. A day out at Harlow Carr would not be complete without taking a break at Yorkshire’s well known Betty's Cafe and Tearooms. Indulge yourself in one, or two, delicious treats with a well-earned cup of tea while overlooking the gardens. Our favourite is their famous Fat Rascal.

Roundhay Park

Roundhay Park is one of the biggest city parks in Europe, with over 700 acres of rolling parkland, lakes, woodland and gardens! You can explore the park with many paths and trails which are open everyday whatever the season!

Salts Mill

Just a drive out of Leeds boasts Salts Mill, a former textile mill which has been converted into an art gallery, shopping centre, bustling restaurants and cafes. Inside the Mill you can admire a very big collection of works by David Hockney and be inspired by many other artists exhibited. With independent homeware, art and gift shops, you will no doubt find that perfect gift for someone or just a treat for yourself.

Tropical World

Tropical World is situated in Roundhay Park and is one of the City's most popular family attraction. Home to butterflies, monkeys, bats, snakes, crocodiles (and more!) you are guaranteed a fun-filled day out with the whole family!

Where To Eat

North Star Coffee

Situated on the Leeds Dock, North Star Coffee provides ethically sourced coffees of the highest quality by working with speciality focused producers all over the world. The decor in this coffee shop is very trendy, with a Scandinavian rustic twist. A perfect pit-stop to refuel.

Temple Coffee & Donuts

They make great donuts. They make great coffee. What could get better than that? With so many variations of donuts, you'll be spoilt for choice (they even have Vegan options too!) This is a place not to be missed! Take a seat in one of their comfy sofas, sit back under the neon lights and indulge in a delicious donut.

200 Degrees Coffee Shop & Barista School

They are Artisan coffee makers that are unashamedly proud to be 'coffee geeks'. Anyone visiting this friendly venue, will be treated to some of the finest coffee around whilst their mouth-watering deli menu is refreshed once a week with a distinctive New York twist. For those who are enthusiastic in learning more about coffee; upstairs is a barista school that offers classes on home-brew techniques, or even courses on how to rival the professionals behind the counter!

Fettle

A place of great food and atmosphere. Known for its relaxed, organic environment with quality food that has been locally sourced. Situated in the picturesque surroundings of Great George Street, this wonderful find brings together delicious food and great company. Fettle believes that "food tastes even better if eaten in an happy environment, where you are supporting your local community, protecting your environment: this it the fettle way".
